Pamela Patterson, became the CEO of West Company in July of 2004 at a time when the organization was in need of restructuring. Since taking the lead as West Company's CEO, Pamela has successfully secured over a million dollars in grants from diverse funding sources, and has been instrumental in growing and expanding West Company Services to include hosting the Small Business Development Center and in securing funds from the City of Fort Bragg and County of Mendocino through the Community Development Block Grant Program.
Pamela has been assisting businesses in Mendocino County for over 10 years. Prior to becoming the CEO of West Company Pamela held positions of the Director of the Women's Business Center, Office Manager, and Business Consultant with West Company. Pamela has a vast knowledge of business and economic development in Mendocino County which has helped many local businesses start and grow.

With almost 30 years of self-employment and the creation of five successful businesses, Loyd Hambrick has developed expertise in a wide range of business topics including business and financial planning, record-keeping and accounting, and business plan development. Specific passions include management, organizational, and systems improvement. Having bought and sold several businesses, his direct experience affords guidance and insight to individuals navigating the complicated process of business acquisition.
After selling a pest control business and desiring to improve planning and management skills, Loyd returned to college and completed a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Management. Providing business counsel informally throughout his business career, Loyd began counseling on a fulltime professional basis in 2005 and currently serving as Chief Operating Officer for West Company, Mendocino County’s Small Business Development Center and Women’s Business Center.
Heather has a master degree in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Oregon and a bachelor degree in Geography from UC Berkeley. She specializes in community-based economic development with an emphasis in small business development. Heather grew up in an entrepreneurial household and has worked as a freelance cartographer and graphic designer. She has additional expertise in eco-tourism, sustainability, and conflict management. In working with entrepreneurs in Oregon and Honduras, she has experience in composing business and marketing plans.

Bill Beckett's area of expertise encompasses business financial planning, wholesale business and writing business plans. Bill has experience in government procurement and contracting, a challenging but valuable area of business growth and development in the current economic environment. His realm of experience includes marketing, manufacturing, sales, record keeping and accounting, and buying and selling a business. Bill can guide clients through loan process and can help keep them on track with organization and management. Bill is familiar with the challenges of running a business in a rural community and utilizes that understanding in his role as a business consultant in Glenn County.
Robert Ramirez, Business Development Manager
Robert has a bachelor degree in Psychology and a minor in Chicana/o Studies from UCLA and is currently finishing his Masters of Urban and Regional Planning from San Jose State. Prior work experience includes working for the Council’s Office for the City of San Jose, including internships with the City of Morgan Hill and the San Jose Redevelopment Agency. Robert has worked closely with the Spanish-speaking community and microenterprises in the Bay Area. As part of his final graduate project, Robert is assessing the downtown redevelopment efforts of San Jose and San Diego.
Cathy Boyd, Program Data Manager

Cathy Boyd joined West Company in November of 2008. She manages the collection of data and reporting to funding agencies and organizations. Cathy is also responsible for the design and maintenance of our internal tracking system which coordinates our funding and service delivery. Cathy brings over 30 years of experience in administrative management, public relations, database administration, and contract management.
In addition to employees at West Company, we have business advisors under contract to counsel our SBDC clients and when appropriate our TIG clients. Contractors include:
Nancy Banker, a highly motivated, results oriented seasoned executive with over 15 years of experience in multiple markets including healthcare. She was the founder and COO of Entremed Physician Equity Network from 1989-1998.
Johanna Jensen provides marketing assistance to our clients. One of her many accomplishments includes developing strategic marketing plans and implementation of tactical activities realizing $40 million in annual sales for clients of Attachmate Corporation.
Ruth Dobberpuhl is a certified QuickBooks bookkeeper and when appropriate, counsels our clients in their QuickBooks.
Tom Becker is our volunteer Loan Fund Manager. Drawing from his banking experience prior to retirement, Tom was successful in assisting clients last year in attaining 1.4 million dollars in loans.
West Company, Mendocino County’s Small Business Development Center, is seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) Business Development Manager for the inland regions of Mendocino County based in its Ukiah office.
Successful applicants will possess experience with small business ownership, economic development, knowledge and use of business planning including writing business plans, prior experience in conducting and developing business training workshops and seminars, proficiency in computer skills including but not limited to the use of Word, Excel, Power Point, and database use, as well as demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and maintain accurate and detailed records of day-to-day activities while focusing on and meeting specific goals and expectations.
BS or BA in related field preferred. Position is full time and exempt status. Annual salary is $34,000-$36,000 DOE, and after probationary period includes health benefits, paid holidays, sick time, vacation pay, and retirement benefits.
